IDEC XA 16mm Emergency Stop Switches
IDEC XA 16mm Emergency Stop (E-Stop) Switches feature Safe Break Action technology and come in two button sizes of ø29mm and ø40mm. Conventional E-Stop switches are constructed with spring pressure on the normally closed (NC) contacts, keeping them in the closed position and allowing the machine to operate. However, excessive force or improper installation can cause the stop button to break or dislodge a vital part, making the spring-loaded contact stay closed. The Safe Break Action design reverses the energy direction and uses the spring pressure to ensure the NC contacts will open if the emergency switch is damaged or the contact blocks separate due to excessive force. Also, IDEC E-Stop Switches with Safe Break Action technology meet or exceed international safety standards of ISO 13850 and EN60947-5-5 due to automatically turning off machines when the contact block and actuator are improperly installed or damaged.
The XA series offers up to four safe-break contacts with a depth behind the panel that is half the size of traditional E-Stop switches. This extra depth means there is an additional contact available and these switches can be used in Level 4 safety category applications. In addition, these XA switches feature either a push-turn or push-pull reset method for resetting, eliminating possible confusion for operators when resetting the switch.
