ams OSRAM AS8580 Capacitive Sensors

ams OSRAM AS8580 capacitive sensors detect and measure the change of capacitance in different applications. These sensors capture sinusoidal current responses from a forced sinusoidal voltage. This enables accurate identification of capacitive and resistive components, which helps compensate for environmental disturbances like moisture. The AS8580 sensors feature a 5MHz to 20MHz dynamic measurement frequency range for advanced EMC robustness and are AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified. Typical applications include hands-on steering wheel detection, automotive door handle/trunk opening, human presence detection for automotive and non-automotive, and sensing of fluid level and quality.

Features

  • Separation of the resistive and capacitive components of measured impedance
  • Four independent measurement lines
  • Long-term delivery and quality due to the own production site in central Europe
  • Functional safety ASIL B according to ISO26262
  • AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified
  • Touchless and wear-free technology

Applications

  • Hands-on steering wheel detection
  • Automotive door handle/trunk opening
  • Human presence detection for automotive and non-automotive
  • Sensing of fluid level and quality in vehicles, as well as industrial
